Although the very mention of the yuletide season in early September would cause some people to break out in a cold sweat, a recent survey carried out by Kilkenny Design found that 60% of participants intend to start their Christmas shopping earlier this usual, while 30% had already begun.

Consequently, Kilkenny has begun selling its seasonal Christmas range as of September 9, offering a wide array of ornaments, wreaths and gifts for the chillingly organised among us.

This year, Kilkenny has placed special emphasis on harking back to traditional Christmas celebrations, producing a collection dominated by a red and green colour palette with champagne undertones, as well as elaborate wreaths and garlands decked with greenery and berries.

The retailer, which specialises in promoting Irish designers, will also introduce new elements to its Christmas collection, including a green sanctuary theme, antique metal work and glass.

To mark the launch of its Christmas shop, Kilkenny Design is offering customers a €15 discount on purchases exceeding €75 from September 9 until September 27.

Speaking about the launch, Melissa O’Gorman, Buying Director for Kilkenny Design, stated: ‘We are delighted to open our Christmas shop earlier this year to give our customers time to prepare well in advance for the Christmas season.

‘We noticed shoppers were already searching for the festive range, we all deserve a sprinkle of joy after the last few months!

‘Now more than ever, it is important to have something to look forward to and many people are opting for more traditional gifts such as snow globes and personalised jewellery to make this Christmas a joyful and memorable experience.’
